Doctor Who and the Multiverse of Madness: Chapter Three

Story Summary: The Doctor didn’t mean to get dragged away from her girlfriend and into the multiverse. Honest! Especially not to a world where her life is a TV show and Peter Parker is her no.1 fan.

This is chapter three! Make sure you read chapter one first!

Notes: SO the thing is that I really do have a LOT of ideas for this multiverse, and specifically two more fics cooked up (one of which is gonna be posted like… minutes after this updates) so I’ve had my bestie (tinysugacube) take a look at this whole thing. If you’re reading this for the first time—thank you for giving my weird universe a try! If you’ve already read this—thank you for coming back to my weird little universe. Please note that the first two chapters have been edited but not for plot details, for grammar because as I wrote in my original end notes, this was written very chaotically in the beginning.

I know this is a short chapter, but that’s because I am saving a lot of the aftermath and follow-up for the next fic in this series, which I will start posting hopefully in November or December, after I wrap up flufftober. 😊

Thanks as always to tinysugacube for her grammatical prowess, as well as to Marvin for his official seal of approval.

Edit 10/8/25: I was a bad author and apparently posted this before my beta had actually finished looking at it and am worse because she finished looking at it several days ago and I’m only just uploading with the accurate edits lmao. Any remaining errors are entirely my fault. 😂

Chapter Three

P“So you’re saying that there is an insane version of me who is tracking this poor girl across the multiverse, and she’s going to attempt to possess me any moment now?” Wanda deadpanned, toddler on her hip as she stared at the Doctor, Peter, America, and Tony, who were all standing awkwardly in her kitchen.

“Yeah, sorry about that.” The Doctor winced.

“Ugh, I’m retired. Thought I was done with all this bullshit,” Wanda sighed.

“Bullshit!” Tommy repeated, clapping his hands enthusiastically.

“No, you don’t get to say that word, honey, that’s Mommy’s word,” Wanda corrected.

“Bullshit!” Tommy giggled again. Wanda sighed deeply once more, but before she could say anything else, Vision phased through the door.

“What’s going on?”

“Apparently a parallel universe version of me is wreaking havoc across the multiverse,” Wanda grumbled. “Some people have no respect.”

“Bullshit!”

Heaving another giant sigh, Wanda passed their son over to Vision. “I’m not sure when I’ll be back.” Turning back to Tony she pursed her lips. “You’ve got me for three hours, Stark. I want to have this over and done with in time for dinner. Pietro’s coming over with his new girlfriend, and she needs vetting.”

It was almost anticlimactic in the end. Wanda made the executive decision that she wouldn’t wait around to be possessed and instead insisted on being brought over to the other universe to knock some sense into her alternate-universe self in person.

The others were hesitant to go back to that universe—that Wanda had kicked all of their asses with no issue, and it was only sheer dumb luck that they had made it back to their home universe alive. As it happened, however, there was no need for a fight, as Wanda simply dragged herself into a coffee shop and managed to have a reasonable conversation with herself over pumpkin spiced lattes. It was impressive—and a little scary—to see it all go down.

Once the dust settled, the assembled Avengers simply sat awkwardly together in the same conference room where everything had started.

“So… what happens now?” America asked. “The monster’s not chasing me anymore. She’s been chasing me for so long, I’ve been going from universe to universe for so long… I don’t even know what to do with myself anymore.”

“Now is when we get you home,” the Doctor replied gently.

“But where is home?” America asked. “I don’t even know where I’m from, or how to get there.” She sounded frustrated, and a little bit helpless, and so of course Peter had to open his big mouth.

“You have a home here,” he blurted out. “I mean, if you want it. From what you’ve told us, and what we’ve experienced in other places, I feel like our universe is definitely one of the better ones.”

America laughed wetly. “You’re not wrong there. Still, I don’t know if I can stay. The only one who’s been able to really help me with my powers is the Doctor, and she needs to get back to her universe.”

“Don’t worry about me,” the Doctor told her. “I’ll be fine. I always am. This is about what you want. I said I’d get you home, and I will. But in the end, it’s up to you to figure out where that home is.”

“Thanks, Doctor.” America smiled. “Can I think about it?”

“It’s a big decision, it’s okay to take your time,” Rhodey told her, and everyone around the table nodded their heads in agreement. “But we’ll be right here for you when you are ready to make it. Peter was right, you’ll always have a home here with us.”
